Corvad
Berserk
Cosmism Records
Out: 1st October

Back on the scene after his first record on Cosmism Records not long ago, Corvad presents Berserk. This energetic work, inspired by Kentaro Miura, offers up a double-A of artistic contrasts. Exploring fiery synthesisers and soul-crunching rhythms, this staunchly independent music-maker wields his freshly sharpened double-edged sword.

With resonant beats in eerie surroundings, reverberations of movement swirl around the tempo. Ghostly wails climb glass walls as crunching bass smashes down into the drive. Mechanical drums from heavy industry clang and bang as manic sounds howl and chant to the time of a pushy bass drum. The progression of percussion maintains a surfing elevation as gated synthesisers and programmed transitions run through various feelings. Berserk is a massive triple pounder that keeps hitting us with extravagant flavours and punchy beat changes.

Clipped beats run alongside hat-taps that build into a vocal sample. Swervy synths then froth the undercurrent as the sample loops on the word Integrate. The title of the track, the line builds into a throbbing synthesiser melody that hits us with tempo-driven force. Beats rain down in shifting processes that mutate and twist the zapping sounds into spirals of forward thrust. The vocal sample adds a human touch yet the constant warping of the sound feels like we're in a cybernetic projection.
