Amy Root
Ava EP
Reflektor Records
Out 15th October

Recorded on the Dutch Island of Texel, Amy Root's brand new EP follows on from the extremely well-received Elif. Removing themselves from the humdrum of the modern world, absorbing the emptiness of natural beauty manifested a subliminal dimension to existence. This subtle drama and vibrant nature became the emphasis that made Ava a reality. Each track has been uniquely inspired by the works of Joseph Mallord William Turner, a well-respected British painter. The Dutch duo have used the sensations and ideas within the images to compose exciting and ethereal sound adventures.

Rumbling atmospheric storm sensations bulge with imminent progression as harmonious swathes of layered string and vocal curdle and foam from every focal point. Waves of euphoric tonality crest overhead as adjustments in the micro-layer prepare fertile ground. Zeal is hedonistic and enchanting. Formless currents manifest and merge within helpless bubbles that blow upon fantastic oceans knitted from memory and dream.

Delicate pianos describe Sofia. The breezy undertone whisks a secondary sensation before a strangely effected yet poignant and effective vocal emerges from under the stairs. Now under the stars, amidst an eternal expanse of potential and glow, a rhythm shutters the emptiness with hinged rhythms. Repeating vocals cast hypnotic disparities through the dramatic drifts of creativity that clothe a distinguished beat.

Crumbling surroundings fall into place as a squeaking rhythm cycles out into the wilderness. Panel drums rattle with rhythmic vibration as a sea of synths begins to wash over the dry shore. A tidal presence forms a delicate brushstroke across tranquil nature. Vocals add a flavour of mysterious soul that haunts the time with grasping eyes. Ava progresses into a choppy space-disco as meandering tones collide in metered bursts. Dwindling elements fall into wider spaces that describe chapters of meaning.

Intendant rises up on a ladder of beats. Crisp and seductive rhythms jamboree in a dilute of flavours mingling together under one roof. A vocal echoes through the pressure, and new drums with cymbal strikes bounce into the central fold. Bass rolls in motioning manoeuvres in lists of chipper breeze and merging formations of rhythm. Marching pace synthesisers with tubular resonances throb in shaken pulses of dance tempo.

Deep sensual scratching creaks like pressured timber moving against itself as a symphonic warm effervescence coils up from vaporous cauldrons. Drum and bass rhythms then articulately transpose their-selves into an acrobatic routine that meets all the requirements laid before them. Wandering trumpet sounds grow like balloon animals bending under twisting resonances that create more than what they were. Turmoil throws us into a futuristic blend of interesting tones and rampant rhythms that slam ideas down like three of a kind hands.
