LadyMonix makes an entrance just as the summer fades into memory. She wants to explore what it means to be deep. As we descend into the basements of the underground electronic music venues, leaving the open fields and secluded beer-gardens behind for another year, this throbbing crimson disk just itches to be played. Made of two originals plus a super remix, this three track blaster takes us further into the realm of LadyMonix and beyond. A soundtrack to many parties, Baby sets the season in motion with ample attitude.
A mash-up of percussion and lyrics begin the record. Clappy rhythms and random drums rotate on their axis and dig out a well chiselled groove. Emotional upbeat inflections in the vocal give the track a bouncing atmosphere, fabulous drum riffs pounce on the tempo with mirrors of loop and layer. Vibrant synthesiser pads jostle with shimmering melody that fills open spaces with inflatable brightly coloured ornaments, It's as if in a dream, we wander through lanes of tall grass and day-glow architecture. Memories of the summer-time fill our senses as we dance to this funky and expressive track.
A Stefan Ringer remix of Baby follows, the same groove is spun out along a deep and chewy bassline. That shimmering vocal re-emerges, stunning us with a new direction of energy. Effervescent liquid sensations cuddle and coil as minimal beats and thumping bass dish out avenues of rhythm. Building up with every few bars, layers tingle and touch with abstract tenderness to reveal more facets to the spinning-wheel of sound. A catchy dancing beat penetrates plucky synth and chiming harmonies. Emotive vocalisations of happiness ring out across the neat and portioned elements of rhythmic flow.
For the final entry, a ringing synth calmly pushes us out to sea with rapid shunts of tone. A snare and cymbal combo pound over a kick-drum with quick thrusts. Upbeat male vocal shimmies around the angular framework of rhythm while a penetrating synthesiser bashes out a monotonous pulse. Twin effects with drum and key give a dualistic two lane direction for exploratory vocals and funky synths to discover a catching atmosphere. A Feeling relentlessly bashes out a quick rhythm with lots of obliterating high-end while a steady thundering kick keeps everything rooted to the floor.
