Multi-talented composer and producer Buhduzit emerges on DeepWit Recordings with a unique edge. We love it when labels take risks with the less-commercial sounding artists, music is a continually evolving organism and it takes special people to break in with new sounds to create that change. With a passion for invoking natural instruments with electronic music configurations, the merging of atmospheres from two distinct worlds creates a new form of tangible substance. Honing an accessible sound from two definitive spheres gives Buhduzit an advantageous cutting-edge clarity which no-doubt makes a great foundation stone.
A snappy snare led rhythm opens Happy Go Lucky along with resonating synthesiser tones. Dubbed effects in the music give a jittering sense to the flow. A drum-break cuts through the scene to reveal a strong and heady bass-line. Wandering dancing beats churn in a bellows of tone and percussion. New drums with swirling expressions begin to create a layer of rhythm to sit on top of throbbing and far reaching bass tones. More progression unfurls as shimmering bell tones chime in ambient mirages of sonic apparitions. As the music continues, a storyline of evolving sounds and rhythm instruments drift along to create a continually moving and uplifting composition.
Next, a spiritual harmony of various notes whistle and chime through a thick, viscous static. Freight-train drumming canters along in the distance, revealing patterings of droplet sounds which glisten like enchanted audiences. Rhythm breaks free, a kick drum in double-time surges through as various swirling and murky tones dance in neatly illuminated glades. Tribal percussion as wooden blocks carry a basic tune forward through the shimmery composition. Faded strikes as a delicate examination of interesting sonic spires leaping from distant horizons. As we draw in, bar by bar, the majestic architecture brings itself to life as the ornate descriptions fractal into complexity.
Home starts with a thundering bass-drum which rumbles at an organised pace. As this continues, rain begins to fall and ping from various objects. Roof-tiles, water-barrels, guttering, all the elements of a home are there. Windy swifts of glittering sound fray in the punctured air as they build and coalesce once more within pockets of stillness. A smooth drum-beat shines forward in a chatty and upbeat grasp of the brighter side. The sun starts to come out, revealing all the many various perspectives and temporal anomalies of space.
For the final track, we get the DJ favourite. An almost aggressive rhythm peeks out from behind the curtain of silence and cuts through the remnants of the previous mix. An uplifting sense of introspective dance emerges as the track progresses into space-age swirling sounds and digital frills of high-speed tonality. A snare enters, it rolls and washes before a new dynamic in the bass gives a thumping edge to the mixture of independent yet gravitationally attracted sounds. U660 remains in the fast-lane, building and growing with each progression. As the record culminates, the energy is focussed and magnified in a beaming burst of synth, drum, and intelligent sound experiments.
Buhduzit can certainly be proud of this debut release. Then, there's more. Not only does 2019 see the entrance of this great electronic music artist, it also sees the birth of a new record label. Memory Cloud is set to be run by the man behind the Buhduzit camp and to specialise in experimental electronic dance.
